Chomp Munch and Chat Dinners

What are they?  Chomp Munch and Chat dinners are small group gatherings either in people’s homes, at restaurants or other locations agreed upon by the group. Although pot lucks in people’s homes or restaurant dinners are the most common gathering, you might want to try something different, such as a brunch, a picnic, or a trip to the zoo.

Why do we have them?  Their purpose is to provide a social opportunity to get to know each other a little better. Although many of us have worked closely, few of us know each other very well. Chomp Munch and Chat dinners and activities provide a means of forming closer personal friendships.

Who can participate?  Any friend or member of Channing, as well as spouses, partners, children, and other family members, may sign up. There are groups for adults only or family groups including children.  Groups are usually 6 – 8 adults or three to four families, depending on the size of the family and the ages of the children.

When do they take place?  Groups will start forming as soon as we have enough people signed up and will continue to form groups until around mid-December. Since we are getting started so late in the year, your group can decide if it would like to get together before the holidays or wait until January.  Once you get started, most groups get together every 4 to 6 weeks.  There will also be opportunities for newcomers to participate after the first of the year.

Where do they take place?  In people’s homes, at restaurants, at parks, or wherever the group’s spirit takes you.

How do I participate?  Just complete a sign-up sheet and return it to the Congregational Life Table at church on Sunday morning or e-mail .
