Leadership Development/Nominating

The Leadership Development/Nominating Committee is beginning its search for a slate of candidates to serve in various positions during the upcoming church year. The following positions will be elected at the Annual Congregational Meeting in May:

            Board of Trustees

                President (7/1/08 – 6/30/10)

                Treasurer (7/1/08 – 6/30/10)

                At-large Trustee (7/1/08 – 6/30/10)

                At-large Trustee (7/1/08 – 6/30/09)

            Leadership Development/Nominating Committee

                2 positions (7/1/08 – 6/30/10)

In addition, all standing committees can use additional volunteers, specifically the Membership Committee, Religious Education Committee, Adult Religious Education Committee, Worship Associates, and Stewardship/Fund Raising Committee.

    If interested in serving in any of these positions, or if you have talents, skills, and gifts that could serve Channing Memorial Church in other ways, please contact any member of the Leadership Development/Nominating Committee: K. Kalumuck, R. Birnie, E. Grim.

Interfaith Peace Witness March 7, 2008

   The Olivebranch Interfaith Peace Partnership is hosting an Interfaith Peace Witness in Washington, DC, on March 7th, 2008. Join thousands of faithful peace activists as we march on Washington. Presenters include Unitarian Universalist Association President, Rev. William G. Sinkford.

   On Thursday, March 6th, classes on current peace issues will be offered by religious activists such as Fellowship of Reconciliation and American Friends Service Committee.

   On Friday, March 7th, Dozens of houses of worship will participate in a Service of peace at Noon. Join UU's at All Souls Unitarian at 1500 Harvard St. as we worship with Rev. Sinkford and Rev. Robert Hardies. Afterwards, the services will come together on Capitol Hill to tell Congress that we love peace and justice.

   An optional direct action of civil disobedience will be offered to participants, if they so desire.
