The Channing Connection:
                                    Worship Services

Volume 15, Issue 3
March 2008

This year, worship and children's religious education is centered in the Old Testament or Hebrew Scriptures.
How do these stories contribute to our culture -- UU and secular -- and help us live lives of faith?

March Services  (10 a.m. at Northfield Elementary School unless otherwise noted):

March 2:   To the Saints at Ellicott City.

Fresh from her trip to Turkey and Greece, Reverend LaMar will share reflections on Channing Memorial Church, compared to the development of early, first century churches. Our Unitarian Universalist development is different . . . or is it?   Reverend LaMar

March 9:    Abundance Within.

As we head in to stewardship time, let's pause and really appreciate what we have as a religious community. We are thriving!   Reverend LaMar

March 16:   Chariot's Wheel.

Spiritualities from Northern Europe have mixed liberally with our present day religious sensibilities. We'll explore stories and reflections from Celtic spirituality.   Rev. LaMar

March 21 (Friday): Scarlet Robe.

This will be our annual Good Friday Communion Service at Bethany Lane. Reverend LaMar will lead worship, with Christy Guenther providing cello music to complement the readings. Join Reverend LaMar at 5:30 for a discussion around Unitarian Universalist understandings of communion.

March 23: Blossoming Forth -- Easter Magic!

Our intergenerational Easter service will celebrate the coming of spring, the never-ending cycle of life from death. Bring a homemade butterfly -- celebrating transformation across the generations!  Reverend LaMar and more.

March 30: Esther's Banquet

The Jewish festival of Purim celebrates the heroism of Queen Esther, who used her beauty and her wiles to save her people from annihilation. It is an exciting story with a universal message . . . what can we learn?  Reverend LaMar
