The Channing Connection:
                                    Worship Services

Volume 15, Issue 4
April 2008

This year, worship and children's religious education is centered in the Old Testament or Hebrew Scriptures.
How do these stories contribute to our culture -- UU and secular -- and help us live lives of faith?

April Services  (10 a.m. at Northfield Elementary School):

April 6:   Seven as One; An Invitation to Deeper Living

Have you ever thought about the order of our seven Principles? Does the order matter in the grand scheme of things?  Let’s explore the notion that order does matter as we look at the seventh principle (the interdependent web) and wonder what would happen if it became the first principle. What are the implications for how we live and act in the world?    Guest Preacher: Shelley Page.
[
Shelley Page is a Candidate for Unitarian Univeralist ministry and will graduate from Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley in May. A UU for 25 years, she has served in a wide variety of lay leadership roles, including founding mother of the UU church of Canandaigua, New York.]

April 13:    Blessings to Go Around.

Life is full of disappointments, yet blessings never cease. How do we anchor ourselves in a faith that carries us forward?    Reverend LaMar

April 20:   Your Sandals on Your Feet and Your Staff in Your Hand.

What would it be like to be ready to leave quickly in order to escape oppression and find a new life...taking almost nothing with you? We will reflect today on the Jewish holiday of Passover.      Reverend LaMar

April 27: The BRUU Mime Troupe Is Coming!

Come see the mime troupe from Bull Run Unitarian Universalists in Manassas, VA, in a special worship experience this Sunday.  The BRUU Mime Troupe consists of about 15 children ages 9-14 who, under the direction of Cynthia Rouillard, have put together a worship service reflecting on our seven Principles. The worship service consists of seven mime sketches, accompanied by music, narration, and sometimes…  silence. Come see this unique worship experience and witness some mimes that are “out of the box.”
