"There is no office
higher than that of teacher of youth, for there is nothing on earth
as precious as the mind, soul, character of the child"

| Our program exposes children and adults to the richness of world religions with extra emphasis on Christianity and Judaism, which offers an understanding of life issues as well as acquainting young people to Unitarian Universalist history and values. Adult Religious Education is offered throughout the year on Sunday afternoons following the worship service and in the evenings during the week. Channing's Children and Youth Religious Education Program is offered primarily during Sunday worship service. Our carefully selected curriculum offers opportunities for worship, community-building within the church and beyond, creative arts and self-empowerment. | Sunday morning worship usually begins with a child or youth lighting the chalice. During the first 15 to 20 minutes of the service, children and youth sit with their families and can participate in the service. A "Story for all Ages" is offered during this time. Following the story, the children and youth leave the service to attend their RE classes. One Sunday a month, the children go directly to their classes for Children’s Chapel, a worship service of their own. Intergenerational services are held throughout the year, coinciding with specific holidays or special celebrations. |
