In last Sunday\u2019s sermon on hope, I was struck by Pastor Lora\u2019s comments that simply taking in negative news contributes to despair and hopelessness \u2013 and, I would add, passivity.\u00a0 One thing that helps?\u00a0 Getting involved.\u00a0 Showing up.\u00a0 Taking action.\u00a0 Here\u2019s an opportunity to do all of that:<\/p>\n
PATH (People Acting Together in Howard) recently became part of the statewide MD Just Power Alliance, and this larger organization is hosting a candidate action on\u00a0October 18 from<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>2:45\u20134:30 pm at the\u00a0<\/strong>First Baptist Church of Guilford in Columbia.<\/strong>\u00a0 PATH\/MJPA are asking state and local candidates to commit to work with us to make Maryland affordable, sustainable and safe for all of us.\u00a0The action will focus on the top issues that emerged from last year\u2019s listening campaigns across the state, including housing affordability, immigration and climate equity.<\/p>\n Channing is committing to bringing at least 10 people to this action.\u00a0 Please sign up today at the link below to help us meet that commitment, and respond to this email letting us know that you will be attending.<\/strong><\/p>\n
