We are holding monthly RE groups for Channing at Epiphany Lutheran Church. Groups begin after the Story for All Ages, go downstairs to “the little adjoining-room,” and the session goes during the remainder of the service.
The group for children in Primary School is scheduled for the second Sunday of the month starting this May. The group for children and teenagers in Elementary to High School is scheduled for the third Sunday starting this May as well.
We aim for content that is thematically aligned with Channing’s services and the Unitarian Universalist Values presented in them, geared to these age levels. There will be a take-away activity for each session designed to encourage further reflection and conversation on the topic at home. Groups will be communities in which kindness and respect are emphasized and practiced in a warm and supportive atmosphere.
This May, the Channing RE Youth Groups will work with this month’s theme of “Awakening Curiosity.” The Primary Group will ask “I-wonder-questions” using words and pictures to spark and express curiosity. The Elementary-to-Highschool Group will engage in creating a “yarn-web” and will form “question-maps” about objects and pictures to help convey how curiosity about interconnection can lead to empathy and care.
