“Giving Thanks” with Rev. Jane Bennett Smith
Each year, the Sunday before Thanksgiving, we join together for our annual Bread Communion service. In this special tradition, you are all invited to bring and share a bread* that is meaningful to you. Perhaps your special bread or dish comes from a religious, ethnic, or cultural background! Perhaps it is a family favorite.(*In the spirit of our November Soul Matters theme– “The Path of Change”–we are widening the circle of our Bread Communion to also embrace bread-free grains and grain-free breads.)
This Sunday, we reflect on the path of Change in this season of Gratitude. In considering the gifts of this season, we join together to contemplate the blessings of giving thanks, of sharing with one another, and of storytelling. How do the blessings of the season transform us? Together, we both give and receive the wisdom and warmth found in the stories of our special grains.
**You are invited to bring a chalice or a chalice-like object and a candle for our community chalice lighting**
