Sundays After “Formed for Freedom: Theological Education in Authoritarian Times”

This February, we welcome a special guest visitor, traveling to us from Chicago, Illinois.  Elias Ortega, president of Meadville Lombard Theological School, will join us for a weekend of discussion, inspiration, and spiritual growth.  He will host a workshop on Saturday and a worship service on Sunday, followed by a special Sundays After. Whether you can join us for one, two, or all three, I strongly encourage your attendance. The Saturday session is key for church leadership but will be open and impactful for all. I’m very excited for this truly unique and meaningful opportunity. I hope you can join me and other local clergy as we learn and grow together!

“Formed for Freedom: Theological Education in Authoritarian Times” with Elias Ortega

Our shared Unitarian Universalist theological tradition offers the intellectual, moral, and spiritual grounding needed to face a world increasingly shaped by fear, division, and authoritarian impulse. Our faith calls us to imagine differently, to nurture courage, creativity, and compassion in our service to the world where others sow distrust and despair. This imagining emerges not by accident but is cultivated through theological reflection and education that forms leaders, thinkers, and communities capable of moral discernment that leads to a prophetic response. At the heart of Meadville Lombard’s educational mission is the work of sustaining our Living Tradition as a commitment to democratic living. This is a moment that calls us into renewing our commitment and investment in learning, spiritual practices, and institutions where faith meets our public lives.
