Immigrant Experience Workshop

I invite you to an important workshop hosted by Rev. Mary Eliot, rector at Christ the King Episcopal Church, and Cindy Baez, the Program Coordinator for RISE.  As written by Rev. Eliot:

The past two years have been filled with talk about immigrants and immigration. While we may have strong feelings, and perhaps even know some immigrants/refugees, what are some of the facts? This workshop explores fundamentals of modern immigration with a focus on Baltimore County. This workshop does not provide legal advice, nor does it represent a political position. Instead it invites some immigrants the space to speak of their own experience, and allows participants a chance to respond and reflect. Resources will be provided both for those standing in the space of privilege and for neighbors who may be new Americans. Immigration action impacts our community presently and has implications far into the future, let’s take some time for deeper understanding.

The Immigrant Experience is one program of RISE. Other programs include a food distribution program that shares produce and other food with neighbors. The food program began in 2020 and has now served over 100,000 people. RISE also partners with Chadwick Elementary in multiple ways, currently seeking to raise $2k to help families provide eyeglasses for children.

This workshop will be held Saturday, June 6, from 10-11am at the church office.

I hope you can attend this important event. Please RSVP  to Rev. Jane by June 5th.
